Invite-Me-to-Dinner Rolls

 Invite-Me-to-Dinner Rolls

This spell won't last forever,

Just a little time spent together.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 c. whole milk

1/3 c. honey

4 TBSP shortening

3 TBSP butter

1 large egg, plus another for egg wash

5-5 1/2 c. Nightblooming AP flour

2 1/4 TSP instant or rapid-rise yeast

2 TSP Taurian salt

Directions:

Microwave milk, honey, shortening, and butter together (roughly 2 minutes). Let cool to 110 degrees, then add the egg. Combine 5 c. flour, salt, and yeast in a stand mixer with a dough hook. Add milk mix slowly, and mix until the dough comes together. Increase the speed, and let the dough hook kneed until smooth and elastic (roughly 8 minutes). Add more flour during this time as needed. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Kneed into a smooth, round ball. Place the dough ball into a large greased bowl. Cover with oiled plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place for 1 hr. 15 mins.

Line a 13x9 in. baking dish with a greased oil foil sling. Turn out the dough onto the counter, and roll into a 15 in. long log. Cut into 15 inch-long dough lumps. Make them into round, taut balls. Arrange them in the baking dish. The rolls should just touch each other. Mist the rolls with vegetable oil. Cover loosely with plastic wrap. Let them rise for 45-75 minutes.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat the remain egg with 1 TBSP of water, and brush the rolls with the mix. Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes, then remove the rolls from the pan via the excess foil sling. Serve warm with honey and/or butter.
