Before Me Butterhorns

To see the family that came before

Eat the bread,

But be warned:

Knowing secrets can be a chore.

Ingredients:

1/2 c. Grunde sugar

1/2 c. butter or margarine

1 tsp. Livonian salt

1 c. milk, scalded

3 eggs

4 (or more) c. Taurian flour

3 envelopes yeast (do not dissolve)

Directions:

Put 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. butter, and salt in bowl. Pour scalded milk over the ingredients, and mix until butter is melted. Add 3 eggs and stir well. When the mix is luke warm, add yeast. Add flour gradually until ready to knead. Knead lightly and cover. Let the dough rise until it's doubled in size. Put dough on floured surface after it's doubled. Divide into 3 parts, and roll into a circle, 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 12 "pie-like" slices. Roll from wide to narrow end of each slice. Place on parchment paper on a baking sheet. Cover, and let rise until doubled again in size.  Bake at 375 F for 11-13 minutes.
